What data a natal chart needs
Three things: date of birth, time of birth and city of birth. The date sets the planets, the time sets the houses and the Ascendant, the city sets the coordinates and the time zone. Without the time the chart still builds, but without houses. Without the city — signs only, because the time zone is unknown.
Date of birth
It determines where the planets stood at the moment you were born. The Sun crosses a sign in about a month, the Moon in two and a half days — so the date has to be exact, not «sometime in March».
Time of birth
The sky turns a full circle in a day — roughly one degree every four minutes. The Ascendant, the point rising on the horizon, moves fast, and all the houses move with it.
A two-hour error can rearrange the whole chart: what sat in the 10th house of career slides into the 9th. Time matters more than people think.
City of birth
Viki asks for a city, not a country, for two reasons. First, coordinates: house positions depend on latitude, and Haifa versus Eilat gives different charts. Second, the time zone: to convert your local birth time into universal time you need a point on the map, not a state.
What if something is missing
- All three present — the full chart: wheel, houses, Ascendant, aspects, PDF.
- No time — a chart without houses or Ascendant. Planets in signs, aspects and the extra points remain.
- No city — the calculation turns approximate, because the time zone is unknown. Name at least the nearest big city.
Once and for good
Viki remembers the data. She won’t ask again — in a month or in half a year the chart calculates instantly. Made a typo? Just write the correct value: «I mixed it up, the time is 6:40, not 8:40».
