Aspects in the natal chart: how to read them

In short

An aspect is the angle between two planets — the way they come to terms. A conjunction (0°) merges them, sextile (60°) and trine (120°) bring ease, square (90°) and opposition (180°) bring tension and growth. Viki calculates aspects with honest orbs, no stretching.

The five majors

  • Conjunction, 0° — the planets act as one. Powerful, but with no distance: hard to tell them apart.
  • Sextile, 60° — an opportunity. Works if you use it.
  • Square, 90° — a conflict of two needs. The most uncomfortable and most productive aspect: skills grow out of squares.
  • Trine, 120° — a talent granted for free. The flip side: it’s easy not to notice and never use.
  • Opposition, 180° — a swing between two poles. Often projected onto others: «that’s just how he is», when both ends are actually yours.

What an orb is

Exact angles barely exist in charts. The orb is the allowance within which an aspect still counts. The closer to exact, the louder it sounds. An aspect with a half-degree orb defines a life; one with a seven-degree orb is a shade of tone.

Some services inflate orbs to harvest more aspects. Viki doesn’t: the orbs are honest, and if an aspect isn’t there, she says it isn’t.

No good ones or bad ones

Trines give ease but don’t push. Squares press — and they’re what makes a master. A chart without tense aspects isn’t a gift; it’s a room without resistance.

How to ask

«What are my main aspects», «explain my Moon–Saturn square», «do I have any exact aspects». Viki shows and explains on your material.

How it looks in the chat
I have a Mars–Saturn square. Sounds scary
Sounds — yes. In practice it means action forever hitting a brake: you want to bolt, and a voice inside says «prepare first». In youth it’s maddening; by thirty it turns into stamina that trine people usually lack. Orb of a degree and a half — a strong aspect, so the theme is seriously yours.

Honest orbs — and if an aspect isn’t there, Viki says so.
