What the Ascendant means
The Ascendant is the sign that was rising on the eastern horizon at the minute you were born. It’s how you meet the world: first impressions, manner, reaction to the new. It changes roughly every two hours, so without an exact birth time it cannot be calculated.
How it differs from your zodiac sign
The sun sign is what you name when you say «I’m a Virgo». It’s about essence — where you’re growing. The Ascendant is the shell: how people see you before they know you.
That’s why people so often don’t recognise themselves in their sign’s description. The description covers the Sun, while everyone around sees the Ascendant.
Why minutes matter
The sky completes a full turn in a day: about a degree every four minutes. The Ascendant crosses a sign in a couple of hours. An hour’s error is a different sign — and all twelve houses move with it.
What else hangs on the Ascendant
- The entire house grid: the first house is counted from it.
- The chart ruler — the planet ruling the Ascendant’s sign. Its position explains a lot.
- The Midheaven (MC), and with it the career and reputation theme.
How to ask Viki
Just write «what’s my Ascendant». If your data is on file, the answer comes at once. Dig further: «tell me about my chart ruler» or «how does my Ascendant shape the way people see me».
You’ll need your date, exact time and city of birth.
