The three-card spread: layouts and reading
Three cards is the most universal layout: detailed enough to show motion, short enough not to drown. The scheme needn’t be «past-present-future»: take situation-obstacle-advice, me-him-us, body-feelings-thoughts. Name the one you want, or trust Viki.
Five working schemes
- Past — present — future. The classic; good when the dynamics matter.
- Situation — obstacle — advice. The most practical: it says what to do.
- Me — the other — us. For relationships and any negotiation.
- What helps — what hinders — what to focus on. For projects and decisions.
- Body — feelings — thoughts. When you can’t tell what’s happening to you.
How to read three cards together
The main mistake is reading them separately, as three independent predictions. The meaning lives in the link: how the first flows into the second, what the third says about the first two. Sometimes the third card flips the meaning of the rest.
Why three is a good number
One card gives a direction but no mechanics. Ten give so much detail the main thing gets lost. Three is the smallest structure that shows motion: from where, to where, and what to do about it.
How to ask
«Three cards on the work situation», «situation-obstacle-advice on my relationship», «three cards: what helps, what hinders, where to focus». Name the scheme in your own words — Viki understands.
