The Moon and her phases: what to do in which

In short

Four phases set the tempo: new moon — conceive, waxing — build up, full moon — peak and emotions, waning — finish and release. Viki computes planetary positions from the ephemerides, so the current phase can be asked any moment — along with what it means for your chart.

The four phases

  • New moon — quiet and conception. A bad time to launch, a good one to decide what to launch.
  • Waxing — build-up, advancement, first steps. Everything that should grow.
  • Full moon — maximum visibility and emotion. Not the time for sharp decisions, but what was hidden shows beautifully.
  • Waning — completion, clearing, repaying debts, letting go.

How to ask

  • «What’s today’s Moon phase?»
  • «Is today a good day to start something new?»
  • «What sign is the Moon in now and what does that change?»
  • «How does the Moon phase combine with my daily card?»

The Moon through the signs

Besides the phase there’s the sign: the Moon crosses one in about two and a half days. Moon in Aries — fast and sharp, in Taurus — slow and solid, in Gemini — talk and bustle. For planning small things this is sometimes more useful than the phase.

A study trick

For a week, ask the phase and sign each morning, and each evening note how the day turned out. In a month you’ll start recognising the «lunar handwriting» unprompted — the best way to learn the topic.

Without fanaticism

The Moon is a background, not a schedule. Planning your whole life by her means never starting anything: the right phase is always not now.

How it looks in the chat
What’s the Moon today and what can be done?
Waning, third quarter, Moon in Scorpio. A combination for completions and clearing backlogs — especially the ones that are unpleasant to touch. Starting new things today will feel like wading. Is there something you’ve long been putting off?
